Earth Day: “Paddle to the Sea – Then and Now”

The vintage National Film Board production of “Paddle to the Sea” will be shown. It is a 50 year old classic that many people will recall seeing in public school, based on a book with the same name by H.C. Holling. The video was produced by Bill Mason, a Canadian naturalist, author, artist, canoe-ist, and conservationist, who was also known for including passages from Christian sermons in his films. The program is appropriate for any age including children who would enjoy seeing this 30 minute video.

Katie Britton who has an undergrad degree in Environmental Geography and Sustainability (UBC), and has worked in the Adirondacks doing environmental field work will lead a discussion of issues that appear in the film, comparing then to the current status. And yes, there is some good news.

Tea / coffee beginning at 6:45 pm, music with Abe, informal discussion with evening ending around 8:15. Free will offering in support of future programs.
